Data protection and security

Data protection according to European law

At metr, data security and data protection enjoy a high priority. All building data is encrypted using state-of-the-art technology and is subject to the provisions of data protection under European law.

Permanent safety from data acquisition to storage

The digitisation of buildings is only possible by using the data available in them. These require permanent protection and security during collection, transmission and storage.

In the development of our building management platform and the applications, system security and data protection are our top priorities. We protect, encrypt and secure your data using state-of-the-art technology. This begins with secure transmission and extends to persistent storage on servers in Germany.

We ensure this through the following measures, among others:

  • Targeted protection of our devices (firewalls, automated updates, certificates and individual passwords)
  • Use of encrypted data transmission by SSL / TLS
  • Encryption of data carriers
  • Separation at system level of meter and sensor values and personal data
  • User authentication according to current standards
  • Redundant storage of all data
  • Continuous monitoring of the data streams (intrusion detection)
